By choosing Ricciardo and Vergne, Toro Rosso means ending cooperation with their two drivers last season, Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari.
“I am pleased we could reach an early decision about our racers next year. This means we can give full attention to the year 2012 without any disturb,” said Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost, who told Autosport.
“Over the past year, Daniel and Jean-Eric had proved their worthiness and I hope they can make a significant contribution to the team next year,” he added.
“Daniel had the advantage because he has a lot of racing in Grand Prix this year, while Jean-Eric proves he can adapt quickly to the demands of Formula 1 racing car,” said Tost.

Ricciardo is Toro Rosso racer third last season. Young Australians aged 22 years also raced for the Hispania Racing Team in the 11 series.
“This is a big deal for me and is something I wanted since I was racing for Toro Rosso on Friday morning in the race in the first half of last season,” said Ricciardo.
“I must say that joining the Scuderia Toro Rosso has always been my real goal. So, thank you profusely for Red Bull is already giving me this fantastic opportunity and I can not wait to start the test session,” she exclaimed.
Meanwhile, Vergne will be the third French rider who competed in F1 this season after the team’s Charles Pic Virgin and Romain Grosjean at Lotus. He said he was happy to ride the class had a chance to be a regular rider at Toro Rosso after last season just so the drivers test.
“I certainly feel ready for a change, even though I know there are big differences between the test and actually racing,” said Vergne.
“I enjoy working with people at Toro Rosso this year and I can not wait to be part of a real team,” he said.
